Delete your account.

You can delete your ooey account and everything in it. There is no retention period, no “deactivated” limbo, and nothing to talk anyone out of. Two ways to do it.

In the app.

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You’ll be asked to confirm by typing DELETE. Your account and data are removed within seconds. This cannot be undone.

By request.

If you’ve already uninstalled the app, or you can’t sign in, email privacy@ooeyapp.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We’ll confirm and complete it within 30 days, and in practice within one business day.

We may need to confirm you control the email address before deleting. That’s the only reason we’d hold up the request — an account is deleted on the word of whoever owns its inbox, and we would rather check than delete a stranger’s kitchen.

Get a copy first.

Deletion is permanent, so export first if you want to keep anything. In the app: Settings → Account → Export my data. You’ll get a JSON file with your pantry, recipes, shopping lists, cook history and account details.

What deletion removes.

Everything the account owns, in a single database transaction that either completes or changes nothing:

What it does not remove.

Being straight about the edges, because “we delete everything” is rarely the whole truth:

We do not keep a shadow copy, a “deleted users” table, or your data in a backup we quietly restore from. Deletion is a delete.
