Terms of Service.
This is the agreement between you and Alien Tech Systems LLC, the company behind ooey. It covers the licence you get to use the app, what ooey does and does not promise, and the limits of a recipe that a machine wrote. It is written to be read.
Last updated: 6 September 2026. If we change these terms materially, we will tell you by email at the address on your account before the change takes effect.
Who this agreement is with.
This agreement is between you and Alien Tech Systems LLC only. It is not with Apple, and it is not with Google. Alien Tech Systems LLC, not Apple and not Google, is solely responsible for ooey and for its content.
If you installed ooey from the App Store or from Google Play, that store’s own terms apply to the download alongside this agreement. Where this agreement gives you less than a store’s terms guarantee you, the store’s terms win.
Your licence.
We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use ooey. On Apple devices, that licence covers Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. On Android, it covers devices you own or control, as permitted by the Google Play Terms of Service and the Developer Distribution Agreement.
You may not:
- copy, redistribute, resell, rent or sublicense the app;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where the law expressly permits that despite this clause;
- scrape it, or drive it with automated tooling, in a way that burdens the service or works around a limit we have set;
- use it to break the law, or to abuse, threaten or harass anyone.
We keep every right in ooey that this agreement does not expressly grant you. Your recipes, your pantry and the photos you add remain yours — ooey claims no ownership of your content and no licence to publish it. What we do with it is described in our privacy policy, which forms part of this agreement.
You must be 18 or older.
ooey is for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and we ask your date of birth once to check. This is not a formality we inherited: the AI provider whose terms we operate under requires it, and the arbitration and class-action terms below are not ones a minor can be bound by. If you are under 18, do not use ooey.
AI-generated recipes are suggestions, not instructions.
ooey uses a large language model to generate and refine recipes. You need to know what that means in practice, because it is the most important thing on this page.
A generated recipe can be wrong. It can name an ingredient that is not food. It can state a quantity that is unsafe. It can give a cooking time or temperature that will not make something safe to eat. It can invent a technique, or confidently describe a dish that does not work. These are known properties of the technology, not rare defects, and no amount of care on our side eliminates them.
You are the cook. Read a generated recipe before you follow it. Apply your own judgement about food safety, cooking temperatures, storage and freshness. If something looks wrong, it may well be wrong — and there is a Report a problem option on every AI-generated recipe that tells us so. We read those.
Nothing ooey generates is professional advice of any kind.
Allergens and nutrition.
ooey does not screen recipes for allergens. There is no allergy setting in the app, we store no allergy or dietary information about you, and nothing in ooey is checking a recipe against your allergies. A recipe’s ingredient list is the only allergen information ooey gives you, and it is a list, not a safety check — it says nothing about how an ingredient was processed or what it may have been made alongside.
Nutrition figures, where shown, are estimates derived from reference data and are not exact for the food in your kitchen. None of this is medical or dietary advice. If you have a food allergy, a medical condition, or you are cooking for someone who does, rely on the packaging in your hand and on a qualified professional — not on ooey. Our support page says the same at more length.
Your account.
ooey has no passwords. You sign in with a link sent to your email address, or with a passkey on your device. That makes the email account you sign up with the key to your ooey account — keep it secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Tell us at security@ooeyapp.com if you think someone else has access.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account, and it is a hard delete. See the privacy policy for exactly what that removes, or how to request deletion if you cannot sign in.
What ooey costs.
ooey is free today. There are no ads, no trackers sold to anyone, and no affiliate links. If we introduce a paid tier, we will publish the price and the terms before charging anyone, and nothing you already have will start costing money without your agreement. Any purchase you make through a store is billed by that store under its terms, and we never see your card details.
Support and maintenance.
Support is ours to provide, and we do: support@ooeyapp.com. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for ooey, and neither does Google. If you need help, come to us.
No warranty.
ooey is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that ooey will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything it generates will be accurate or safe to act on.
We make this disclaimer on Apple’s behalf as well as our own. If ooey fails to conform to any warranty that does apply, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to ooey. ooey is free, so in practice that price is nothing.
Limits on our liability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alien Tech Systems LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or the cost of substitute goods, arising out of your use of ooey. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, and where that is so, they do not apply to you.
Claims about the app.
Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims you or a third party may have relating to ooey or your possession or use of it, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that ooey fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation. The same applies to Google. Those claims are ours to answer.
Intellectual property claims.
If anyone claims that ooey, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property, Alien Tech Systems LLC — not Apple and not Google — is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim. If you believe something in ooey infringes your rights, our DMCA page explains how to tell us.
Legal compliance.
By using ooey you represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Other people’s terms.
You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when you use ooey — your mobile carrier’s agreement, and the terms of the store you installed from, among others. Using ooey does not excuse you from them.
Apple and Google can enforce this.
Apple and Google, and their subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement. When you accept these terms, Apple and Google each have the right — and are deemed to have accepted the right — to enforce this agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary of it.
Ending this agreement.
You can end it at any time by deleting your account and removing the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms in a way that harms other people or the service, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us. Your rights to export and delete your data survive the end of this agreement — see the privacy policy.
Governing law.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Alien Tech Systems LLC is registered in New York. The state and federal courts located in the State of New York have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from this agreement. This does not take away any right you have to bring a claim where you live, if the law of your own country or state gives you that right.
